Equine-assisted therapy is a proven and reliable treatment of mental illness treatment in which the individual person undergoes therapy through supervised interaction with horses. Hippotherapy has been shown to treat a wide range of mental health issues, addressing both the physical and psychological issues associated with the diagnosis.

People seeking help will work with a psychotherapist specializing in hippotherapy and a horse trainer familiar with their therapeutic practices, although the same person can fill both roles.

Equine therapy works in part because of the natural ability of horses to pick up on human emotional expressions and needs. Horses are attuned to displays of fear, anger, excitement, and despair. Horses can reflect the human mood with an open mind, without motives or expectations. As the person in therapy bonds with the horse, self-awareness grows, and the goal; of emotional healing often occurs.

Our goal is to deliver Equine Therapy to those in need for free.

Summer Day Camp

Retirement Home for Horses

“On the last day horses cannot speak what they did. They will be judged by the good that they did.”

Our summer day camp program will give underprivileged children in our community the chance to participate in horseback riding and many other horse-related activities. These activities will help children develop skills,

● Socialization
● Leadership
● Character Building
● Impulse Control
● Reduce Anxiety

Our children often experience challenges and this therapeutic environment will help with the process of these painful emotions and feelings. The experience will aid in the process of helping with trust, confidence, empathy and confidence. When children find it difficult to open up, equine therapy allows them to become the happy child they should be.

Owning a healthy horse costs about $60,000 each year; however, this cost can vary widely depending on location, horse health, facilities, training level, and activities done with each horse. This includes basic care costs associated with,

● Nutrition
● Vaccinations
● Housing
● Deworming
● Hoof care

It is not uncommon in some cases with financial problems or due to the fact that the horse does not perform well in sports, the horse is being put down. One of our main goals is to create a place where a
person who can no longer or does not want to takecare of a horse can leave it in our rescue shelter.

Equine-Assisted Therapy

Research has shown that people of all ages benefit from
equine-assisted therapy and horses are involved in
treating a wide range of issues including:
● Cerebral palsy
● Inattention and hyperactivity (ADHD)
● Mood-related issues
● Autism
● Asperger’s
● Grief and loss
● Trauma and posttraumatic stress (PTSD)
● Depression
● Anxiety

The good that we can do together surpasses the good we can do alone.
